Dominican Sisters of Sparkill
Since 1957, Albertus Magnus High School is owned and operated by the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. During the years we have been blessed with the guidance and presence of a community of lay religious, the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, who have lived and worked at the school.
Today, our Business Administrator is Sr. Rita Farrell, OP. Sr. Donna DeGhetto, OP is in charge of Buildings and Grounds. Sr. Marie Morahan also works with the students in our school library. Please visit the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill website for more information on their work locally and globally.
According to their website, "The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, New York is a congregation of over 375 vowed women religious and
associates. Tracing their roots back to the Order of Preachers founded by St. Dominic in the early l3th
century, the Sisters are committed to preaching and teaching the good news of the Gospel through
ministry for justice and reverence for all creation. Members of the congregation minister in 12 states and
in Pakistan and Peru. Sisters now serve in the fields of education, administration, health care, pastoral
ministry, retreat ministry, art, sciences, and social services and advocacy for poor and underserved
populations."
The sisters celebrated their 135th anniversary on May 1, 2011!
Dominican Blessing
May the Creator bless us, may the Redeemer heal us, may the Holy Spirit enlighten us And give us eyes to see, ears to hear and hands to do the work of God; Feet to walk the path of justice and mouths to preach the Good News. May the angel of peace watch over us and lead us, at last, to the Reign of God. Amen.
